Most of our readers know of my passion for wines that show complexity more than simply raw power.

That is little more than verification that I prefer wines that come from climates that are just on the edge of being too cool to ripen the fruit. So I prefer Merlot from Carneros, Riesling from the Finger Lakes and Michigan, Cabernet from higher elevations or the southern end of the Napa Valley, and Semillon from Adelaide Hills.
